How close have you gotten to a true Saturn V replica?

The closest I have got, released, is Phoebus, a 230 part accurate replica that has bit too much margin on the service module:

But the most accurate I have gotten was just 20m/s off, and only for the very last Kerbin insertion burn... albeit in the wrong side of things. ^^'

I would fix that small mistake and release that 300 part beauty, but with the ARM patch coming out, I'm in one of my sabbaticals until the new parts arrive and I can make an even awesomer, lighter one. Besides, the lander was a bit buggy to lift off, I reckon I can do better.

Rune. Rescue mission FTW!

They will indeed eliminate a lot of the excess parts for the replicas. With the new parts we could make the S-IVB but still no S-II or S-IC.

Another thing to point out, I wish the tanks were either 4.2 meters or 4.125 meters. 4.125 would be more logical as it "fits in" more with the other sizes, as it's a multiple of 1/8. The reason being for that is a S-IVB stage is 4.125 meters proportional to the Mk1-2 pod; 4.2 is proportional to the SLS core stage (and STS external tank). But since they're so close, it would make sense to use the 4.125.

I know all the part mods use 3.75 m (KW Rocketry, NovaPunch, Lack SXT), but it really doesn't make much sense other than being in line with the 1.25 m increment used for the other parts.

The problem as I see it is not that the engines are too small but all the parts for payloads are too big. We could use some larger tanks though.

I built a giant N-1 rocket. I haven't really done an accurate Saturn V because I like to build big, and only having 5 engines in the first stage kinda restricts me. I went to Pol because this rocket is obviously way to big just for a Mun mission.

It's fairly accurate as far as the engine configuration. 30 on the first stage, 8 on the second. The real one has 4 of the 3rd stage, and 1 once it gets into orbit, however in game this would leave it lacking t/w ratio, so I added an extra stage of 8, and then 4 once it gets into orbit.

The lander and the orbiter are also fairly accurate to the proposed soviet designs. The only real difference is I didn't dock after returning from the surface of Pol, but that's mostly just because I suck at docking.
