I strongly suggest reading the challenge guidelines. Are we competing on size? Range? Passenger-capacity? Are we restricted to stock KSP or can we use mods like B9 (more parts) and Ferram Aerospace Research (better air physics)? Should it be a replica (if so, I've got a highly accurate 747 that can't easily takeoff) or an original design?

I suggest you make some kinds of scoring system and rules.

Also, the example there probably doesn't need 1/3 of those struts. It is a pretty light and tough plane to begin with.

Afai*, the 707 has 4 engines...

they're also on pylons rather than being attached directly to the wings (which'd be a bit silly considering what comes out the back of the engine).
