Your design is more forgiving than mine fuel-wise. I've found you can get a command pod plus two Goo pods, landing legs and a handful of ladders from LKO to the Mun and back on a single FLT-800 or equivalent amount of fuel in smaller tanks. There's not a great deal of room for error though. My early mode lander is essentially a scaled down version of yours there - Rockomax 48-7Ss instead of LV909s, FL-T200 tanks instead of 400 and no extra reaction wheel.

Edit - oh yes - and I just stick the tanks together directly and use a couple of struts per joint for safety.
