How to turn off the extra's in the VAB?

I am really stoked about the big improvement in KSP's performance. I have started building some bigger, more complex ships and ,well, the VAB lag has reared it's ugly head again. Is there any way to turn off the extra animations like the little kerbals running around on the floor and the firetrucks and stuff?

In the options I believe there is an option, I think it's under graphics.

Ok, I went through the settings.cfg and the in game graphics options and I'm not seeing anything that obviously turns off the VAB animations. Anyone else with idea's? Maybe a code guru than can snap out a quick plugin? I think this could be a big time help for a lot of us that are on laptops.

Instead of the text file, try the built in settings menu. At the start of the game when the first menu opens there will be an option to take you to the settings menu

Ok, awesome, I found it! It's under the first page after you click settings which is the same as the general tab, in the top left. It says "show space center crew". I clicked to uncheck it, then went to the VAB and loaded a big ship. The kerbals are gone but the firetrucks are still rolling around outside, but that doesn't seem to matter to much, because the LAG IS GONE! Thanks SpaceSphereOfDeath for sticking with a hard-headed KSP junkie. After all this time it was right in front of my nose.
