Thinking of making a "black box"

I'm thinking of making a black box/flight recorder in stock KSP. I could make it surrounded in panels and a parachute.

If it's designated as debris, you have to actually search for it with planes.

a good idea,you can use a probe as the box and make it surrounded by some strong stuff

This would be sweet, especially if it actually recorded stuff and maybe you could play it back. (Although I vaguely remember there being a mod like that.)

I'm thinking that when you're close to the probe, you switch to it and press F3 to see the flight log.

I don't think it should be a probe, rather a piece of science gear that needs to be retrieved.
