Stock Tylo single stage lander

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to make a lander that can land on Tylo, take off again, and achieve orbit all with out staging? I've been messing around with landers and the most dV I can get is about 5000, but because of the design I might have more than that.

Two nuclear engines and 20 FL-T100 equivalents of fuel will give 1.5 tonnes of payload about 6800 m/s of delta-v. TWR is a bit low, but you can land on Tylo with that.

If you want more TWR, try using LV-T30 engines. Two engines, 96 FL-T100 equivalents of fuel (1.5 jumbo tanks), and 3 tonnes of payload will have almost 6000 m/s of delta-v.

The lander can also use 48-7S engines. Four engines, 32 FL-T100 equivalents of fuel, and 1 tonne of payload will also have almost 6000 m/s of delta-v. This design will also have a decent TWR.

For really big single-stage Tylo landers, you should look at the new SLS engines.

Yes - very possible. Have done this twice (some quickload was involved, however, with practice you should be able to do this reliably, every time, just like the Mun).

This was my craft...

This is how I did the landing...
