Finding easter eggs

Hi everybody!

I've put countless hundreds of hours into this game, and probably have about everything figured out, but I'm consistently unsuccessful at one thing:

How do you actually find easter eggs (obelisks, etc...)? So far, nothing has shown up from orbit ever that would look like being worth investigating further. Do you literally have to run a recon mission at near ground level over an entire planet in the hope of finding something (in which case I'm amazed anybody finds these things at all), or is there an easier way?

Four options come to mind:

1: Sheer dumb luck.

2: Actively search by flying low and keeping your eyes open.

3: SCANsat. Scan the planet from orbit.

4: www.kerbalmaps.com

And keep in mind not all easter eggs are anomalies to be found by scanning.

Examples of two eggs (both are no longer in the game) that could not be found by scanning were Car Sagan's face on Tylo and the infamous Magic Boulder around Ike.

SCANsat is probably the most realistic way of doing things. pop up a mapping satellite and they show up as "anomolies" which you then have to go to and identify with a different scanner.
