Two little things: "save changes ?" in VAB and "Return to desktop" in Space Center

Those are two details that would make the gameplay experience more enjoyable IMO:

- A simple "do you want to save your ship ?" when you discard your ship in VAB or SPH (by clicking New for example). I lost many ships to that misclick.

- A "Return to desktop" button somewhere, probably from the Space Center or even the esc menu. As of now it takes an absurd amount of time to leave KSP:

1. Press escape
   
2. Leave to Space Center
   
3. Loading
   
4. Quit
   
5. Loading
   
6. Back
   
7. Quit
   
8. Are you sur ? Yes.
   
9. Wait
   

I think those two little improvements would just make the game more confortable to play, at really little cost.

I quite often design my ships without saving, relying on the auto saved ship to hold my design in case anything fails. So I would not really enjoy if the game asked me all the time if I want to save it when I want to go testing.

And regarding return to desktop, there's the Alt+F4 combo or the "X" button in the upper right corner if you play windowed. It's safe to do from Space Center.

I've trained myself to save early, save often in the VAB/SPH so I don't think I'd benefit much from your first suggestion.

The second one, though, I can appreciate as I play full screen for performance reasons.

The game wouldn't ask you all the time, just when you might be at risk to lose some work, like any other software out there.

That's the matter. My development cycle is - put it on launchpad, check how it behaves, revert to VAB, do some changes, put it on launchpad, rinse & repeat. So it would ask me every single time.

Besides we are not in direct risk of losing anything if the game automatically and without asking saves the ship to the "auto saved ship" every time I go to launchpad. Which is what it already does.

Maybe not necessary for trips to the launchpad as that's already covered by autosave, but only prompt on clicking "New", "Load", or "Exit", where the real risk of losing your work exists.
