Adequate Mod Management/Updating?

So it's got to the point where keeping all my mods up to date has become a laborious chore. What do you guys use to manage all your mods and keep them up to date? I've seen a few mod managers, but they've been clunky at best, or they expect modders to package their mods in a specific format.

Any recommendations? Tips?

I just brute force it. I have a few Core mods that I keep updated, but beyond that it's not worth it IMHO.

I generally just check every so often or if I find an error. Otherwise I only really update after a new KSP version, too much work otherwise.
