Naturally captured asteroid?!?!

I had one that had a 54km Pe and a very slow flyby and it aerobraked just enough to get captured.

What are the odds for this?!

I would say impossible, because "aerobrake" implies that physics for it are calculated, but that only happens when you switch to a "vessel". Atmospheres don't exist for crafts that you are currently not simulating.

There are 2 ways for this to happen.

1: Like what Stranded had, where they actually spawn within Kerbin's SOI and start orbiting.

2: If one enters Kerbin's SOI in a "nearly captured" orbit and you're time warping, the SOI/Warp bug could make it become captured.

Actually there's a third: It goes through a Munar encounter, and the gravity assist kicks it into a stable orbit. It will eject it too eventually, but that is totally a possible thing and depending on the resonance of the resulting orbit that could take a looong while. It's short of the natural capture mechanism.

Rune. I know it's hard to see where the energy comes from.
