Bases

Hey,

Im about to start work on a mun base, however, what do you even build at a base? i have built bases before but i just want more suggestions please. Im playing completely stock btw :D

"Bases" have several uses. This can range from being a refueling station, a location to transmit Science and refit your science-collecting modules, to a simple trophy or achievement. Think of bases like a space station that grew descent engines and landed on a celestial body and you'll have a good idea of what you can use them for.

(By the way, using a non-orbiting refueling station is actually a pretty inefficient idea...)

Well in stock, your base is nothing but a collection of parts that LOOKS like a base. It won't have any actual use.

So a couple of hitchhiker modules to make a 'living module', a power module with solar pannels/RTGs, maybe a rover hangar (if you attatch the hangar to the power module, it could be a refuel station for the rover). A transmission module with a few antennas arranged to look cool. Maybe a Mobile Processing Lab with science parts as science module

It's pure RolePlay. It looks cool

If you want a base that has a purpose, I'd suggest Kethane. You could build a pritty big Kethane refinery, with some of the same modules I mentioned to make it look cool

Nah i dont do mods. my bases are completely for show and as role play

In stock they're mainly for looks, but some ideas for uses:

Fuel depot. The Mun's not the best place for one, but you could top up landers so they don't need to carry their ascent fuel down, or can go biome hopping. Don't forget that along with regular fuel and oxidizer there's monopropellant, xenon, and even electricity. Acting as an electricity depot in turn means you'll want lots of solar panels or RTGs.

Science station, with the lab to allow experiment reuse and possibly dockable science modules that can go onto rovers or biome hoppers.

Crew habitat. Park a bunch of Kerbals there, and then in future you can send up ships unmanned and have them crew up at the base. Though this probably is better done with an LKO space station.

Base for rovers, skycranes, and other stuff you might have operating around the Mun.

Even thought i dont need any of these, there just for show and role play im gonna have

habitat modules

Coms module

liquid, monoprop, xenon and electricity storage modules

Rover hanger-maybe well see
