5-Kerbal High Stability Transport

Recommended Posts

Tired of having your rover flip over and blow up, spewing your poor kerbals across the ground in a deadly and extremely costly accident? Wish you could go just a little faster, without having to worry about this? Need a way to transport your kerbals quickly over long distances, during the day or night? Than you have come to the right place!

Hello my fellow Kerbalites! I haven't posted on the forums yet with one of my creations, but my recent rover creation was too much fun not to share! :) It is currently finished initial testing on Kerban and I will soon be testing it out on different planets and moons.

Max speed on flat kerban ground: 22.4m/s

WARNING: Do not exceed 60m/s as the wheels will all bust.

This rover does not have a built in probe, so you will need a Kerbal in the driving seat!

High beams and Low Beams toggled using customs 1 and 2.

Interior lighting can be toggled using 3.

The rear entry door can be opened and closed using 4.

Using custom 5 you can toggle the rear wheel steering on. (WARNING: This can cause high instability, but great fun in turns. :D Wheelies are common! Use at your own risk!)

One of the great stability features of this rover is that despite the fact it is hard to roll it, if you do end up on your back, simply fire one of your mini solid boosters and it will automatically put you back on your wheels. (WARNING: Not guaranteed to rotate correctly in low-gravity situations such as moons)

I apologize that due to having an old computer i run KSP on pretty much minimum graphics. The screenshots might not be as pretty as you're used to. :(

I have done a lot of collision testing on Kerbal and the only parts that I have been able to break are the lights and solar panels. The wheels might burst but you can pump those up again. It is incredible to ram full speed into a wall (22.4m/s) and literally bounce off. Sometimes the whiplash (+8Gs) can kill the kerbals inside though.

Suggestions? Thoughts?
