Can't center clamp-o-tron on top mount point of command pod.

Recommended Posts

When trying to mount a docking port to the top of either the 3 man command pod or the large size lander can, it won't snap to the center. The shielded docking port will snap on, but I need it unshielded since you can't open and attach to the shielded one during construction.

Is there some trick I'm missing? Or a decent workaround?

Do you mean you get that 'rolling around' effect instead of snapping into place? There's two tricks I use for that:

1) Put the camera down by the side of the ship and lower the port onto the top - for some reason the editor snaps it into place because it can't "see" an alternative.

2) Turn off angle-snap ©, next to the symmetry button. Doesn't make the part snap into place but at least stops it 'rolling', so it's pretty easy to line-up by hand.

Perfect! I think I had figured this out a long time ago, but forgotten in my time away from the game. THANKS!
