The Inline Advanced Stabilizer

Recommended Posts

At present the 2 Small SAS units have the same stats, but one is heavier. i propose adding a feature to the Inline Advanced Stabilizer (the heavier one with the visible green circuty on top and bottom). the feature would let the IAS balance the strength of rcs puffs so that if your rcs isnt balanced around the CG, your craft will maintain the proper heading. no drifting. just something to make it unique

The other difference is that the IAS also gives you ASAS functionality, while the other only gives extra torque. Unfortunately, the only thing that is applicable on now is the command chair.

This was fixed a long time ago. All of the reaction wheel parts (the inline reaction wheel, the IAS, and the big ASAS unit) provide both torque and the SAS function. The IAS and IRW have the same exact function, only the mass is different.

You can already do this to some degree. Switching to fine control mode (with the "Tab" key) alters RCS strength based on the distance of the thruster from the center of mass. It does a fairly good job of accommodating unbalanced RCS placement.

I'll use an extra SAS on the upper stage when using probes to control flight when using non vectoring SRBs for the first stage. Otherwise, the probe core is more then capable of controlling flight during launch using engines that have vector control.

Why not just buff the IAS with more torque? Thus its higher weight. Its advanced, so shouldn't it be more advanced?

No need for any advanced changes to the part, or the game. Just a simple stat buff to make the part more balanced in terms of raw stats. (I already use it a lot because it looks nicer)
