Advanced SRB dev [test version 0.7 released]

This list is from an earlier post. Bold items are as of this time working.

-Simpler booster configuration process. Configure the burn time for the nozzle, instead of each segment. Interesting note: the reason segments have the burn time embedded in them is from a time before the GUI in the VAB...each segment part came with different burn profiles.

-Support for symmetry in nozzles (this actually may be in there...I have yet to reread the code).

-Better UI (, perhaps nicer graphs eventually.

-Support for stock AppLauncher and blizzy78's ToolBar

-An attempt at creating support for Engineer and similar mods

-Changes to/removal of stack disintegration feature.

More detail:

Conversion to a stack-based thrust configuration from segment by segment is essentially complete. Some of the auto node modes have been rewritten, others have been abandoned. It's working nicely :D

The UI is going to be simpler to navigate as one whole page has been removed, so most operations can be done on one page.

AppLauncher support may be delayed in the interest of reducing time until a .7 RC is out.

Engineer support right now is still unknown. I have a plan for how it may work, but it'd be sloppy. In that case, I may develop a simple vital stats page (.delta V, TWR, etc).

Rather than a strict stack disintegration (which would be difficult to really simulate well), I've opted to introduce some...fun into SRBs. Currently this is a combination of cyclic Isp changes (with resulting changes in thrust) at about 2 Hz, and the thrust coming from a random location under the nozzle (restricted to be +/- 15cm left/right forward/back currently, will be configurable per nozzle), changing each frame. Combined these make launch a little more exciting without really affecting vehicle integrity or performance. Uncoded but planned is a "max pressure" limitation, wherein each segment has a max propellant burn rate, and if it gets exceeded for too long the segment will overheat. Specifics are still being worked out.

Let me know if y'all have any thoughts on the above.

Looks impressive and highly customizable, I haven't tested yet, are you planning to integrate it with RSS od Realism Overhaul? amazing work! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by integrate it. It should work with those mods just fine.

Just an update:

Working to see if I can change the SRB nozzles to be derived from the stock ModuleEnginesFX. The intent is to help AdvSRBs better integrate with mods like Kerbal Engineer and stock features like the center of thrust marker in the VAB. I imagine this will be a fairly involved process, but it's one that I've been thinking about for a while now. It may not really be a helpful step, but we'll see where it goes. Of course, KER will probably not like the custom fuel flow system I've written, so ehhh, we'll see :D

Ok not the best way to reopen a topic after a year but this is the one mod that has come the most of the way so to say:

Since i see that you kujuman are still around my question is this dead or simple put to the side.

I would like to see and some others after i searched for adjustable srb boosters here in the forum (ok two mods that ar acutally maintaned but have onle a straigth way not curved brunshapes so to say) that this goes one.

Frankly said its the most sufisticated mod for stock ksp (RSS out the windows for this one) that i have seen for srbs here. If there is anotherone which i missed i woud be greatful to have punched it in my face...
