Any why to configure Infernal Robotics parts in the VAB?

I've been trying to build some interesting stuff with the Infernal Robotics mod but I was wondering if I was able to configure the parts in the VAB before launch. Say I want a piston to already be fully extended at launch, how would I go about doing that? Thanks for the help.

On 0.23, you were supposed to be able to operate IR parts from the group editor window in the VAB. If you tried, they would rotate in some awkward direction instead of doing what the joint was supposed to do.

IR 0.14 is stable on 0.23.5, but I haven't checked whether the VAB behavior has changed.
