How to embed Flickr images?

Recommended Posts

you should be able to just use the image URL wrapped in img tags.

sorta like this:

[img](pic URL goes here)[/img]

Also, there is a thing to share the photo, which should generate BBCode.

It's annoying as heck but from what I can see, there is no way to get direct URLs to the image files from the website. They are there though, if you want to dig them out.

When you view a Flickr picture in a browser, right click an empty lighter-grey area on the right, and click on View Source (or whatever it is for the browser you use to see the html).

Scroll down and near the end you will see something like this..

{"url":"\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7081\/14000954023_731668308a_s.jpg","width":75,"height":75},"q":
{"url":"\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7081\/14000954023_731668308a_q.jpg","width":150,"height":150},"t":
{"url":"\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7081\/14000954023_731668308a_t.jpg","width":100,"height":63},"s":

So those are all the direct links to the JPGs. Pick the one you want then remove the backslashes and add a "http://" in front of it like the example below, and hey presto - it works.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7081/14000954023_731668308a_b.jpg

Love it that at the top of the HTML in the comments they have: "You're reading. We're hiring."

Pfft, yeah, like with great websites like Flickr I would want to work at Yahoo... lol
