Why did they insert the water kills mechanic?

Recommended Posts

I personally love making boats and trying to get them to sea, But it get's a bit repetitive after i ksp registers it as touching from sky and either i die or half of my boat is like it just got attacked by JAW's brother JEFF. So why did Squad actually put this as a mechanic because in the real world and that's what ksp tries to be like but with a sense of humor, but in the real world water is harmless unless you stay under to long or drive your car in to deep water.

So yeah why? Why? WHY?

Lol it makes it mega frusterating when im trying to mine the under water kethane.;.;

Water is much more lethal than ground in KSP but it's still quite manageable if you use parts with high enough crash resistance and slow down enough. Just recently I was testing my amphibious plane and there were no crashes involved at all.

Water and ground hits have exactly the same effects. The only difference is that when landing on water, more parts get in contact with it and more part therefore undergo the check for crash resistance before the ship slows down. That's why things break. But when you go slow enough, everything is fine.
