Career mode - how I want to make money in KSP :)

Recommended Posts

First of all I love the game and the community driven developing style. :)

Few words about contracts - different kind of contacts - by example mixed with new features request

A) Beginning level contract

Kerbal University need mystery goo observation from low orbit and surface of desert Kerbin's biome and they give you the budget for that and list of "needed science part of the rocket" in this simple case 2 mystery goo containers rocket can be launched if it has that mandatory parts

so you build the rocket in budget and do the science needed in contract some reward $ $$$ provided

B1) a bit later after beginning when technology will make orbiting easier a bit

Kerbal TV need to put the communication satellite on the low orbit around 110-120km parts needed on the "satelite" several communication antennae

again budget and the task with reward if proper orbit achieved $ $$$

B2) Zeltonic Electronics want's you to test the efficiency/failure probability of theyr prototype battery you need to build the rocket with 6 battery modules put it into the high orbit and informe about the failures within 6 months period on requests crew member for "checking batery state" needed

C1) when you have multi crew command pod and you passed your first EVA mission on the mun/minmus surface

University starting "asteroids research" project and they need the surface sample from 3 different craters on the mun cause they suppose it is made by asteroids impact and they want more details about it - university give you the crew member "scientist" for doing that job... and here is my reques

crew have 2 parameters courage and stupidity - astronaut "the pilot" have high courage and mid/high stupidity

the scientist from the university have excelent low stupidity and lower courage than your man "trained astronaut"

of course astronaut can do the job but the quality of surface sample will be not as good as found by the scientist

different rewards for doing job with scientist from university or only by your hands

low courage of "civilian" means that you need to avoid risky manouvers during all mission keep the g force under control. if not ... the reward will be not as good

...............

midgame contracts

probodyne Inc. working on better solar panels they need more data about kerbol (the Sun) "activity" from low orbit of kerbol... probe mission needed with some mandatory science modules

the university want Minmus base on specific biome for long term research with concrete modules and science parts included and will give you 3 scientists - they will stay in base till the "recover contract" which will end up the big picture. no timeframe at all just 3 combined contracts if you accept one you need to do another later

Now I am motivated for building stations ... mostly for refueling ships/landers but I didn't see good reason for building bases on any moon/planet ... ## with one exception just for doing more fun ## contract with mandatory civilian members will motivate me for doing it with pleasure

in fact I see here 3 combined contracts

1. build the base in place with mandatory parts/modules...

2. get the scientists to it

3. get them back after "recover mission" request

_________

replacing old satellites with the new one - after you discover new communotron the TV may request to replace their satellite ASAP with new antennae

I know that communotron is not for watching TV but it sounds funny and it will do some mesh when you will have several satellites around kerbin for collecting science communication on different orbits from different organizations and you will need to maintain them all and avoid accidental impacts when arriving from longer trips

_________

ouch this post looks like several DLCs with mission/contract packs :)

tons of probe/crew/scientists low budget high budget contracts

for me the contract like for example: research base on the Tylo with scientists inside is the cherry on the cake

let me know your opinion about this what I call "contracts" and what is harsh to implement here? :)

Removed most of the smilies and tried to give some semblance of structure to the post to make it easier to read.

To many Emoticons, no one needs that many, its completely redundant.

I personally see contracts doing this in the future already. Contracts and reputation comes first, then later part costs and money will get involved. All with the baseline progression of the tech tree.

Contracts themselves will probably be the way to expand a players income, science AND feed reputation(or eat). I personally don't see how the Dev's can structure the career game without a "quest" system like contracts. Otherwise reputation can't be gauged and there would be no way to gain money.

Once Contracts are implimented the mission builder format can be expanded at any time. They probably wont be giving you big missions such as build a station with these pre build modules, rather a realistic contract could be test this part in this situation for this long. These sort of missions, that are extremely flexible, are more in tune with KSP.

The next update will bring contracts and reputation. But the economics will still be missing, and the contract system will still probably need fine tuning. So i wouldn't be surprised if things get a little changed around before all 3 main Career systems are added (tech, rep, money)
