Science equipment payload

Recommended Posts

It's pretty easy to unlock all the science equip in a short time, if you know the game. What comes next is just a waterfall of science points per every mission. I would make science equipment either more heavy or simply larger to make it more difficult to mount. Now i can get one SC-9001 material bay covered by two mystery goos and dozen of thermometers, berometers, etc. with ease and almost no weight.

In addition i've another little suggestion - don't know how other players, but i prefer rockets to planes and according to that, i would change an appearance (and name) of sensor nose cone or i would propose an optional part, which would better fit to a rocket body.

PS: I'm sorry if duplicating posts, but personaly i found none with this topic.

Experienced players can ignore science experiments and biomes completely. You get enough science points from crew reports, EVA reports, and surface samples to advance at a reasonable pace.

Oooo that' a good point... I might do a career playthrough where I don't use any science equipment! :D

Well, i think that even an experienced player should find this game a little bit challenging at least. Don't you think it's sometimes too much easy too?

Your suggestion does nothing to adjust difficulty. All it does is force make you grind more to unlock the parts you need.

Making the parts more heavy does 1 of 2 things:

1) Force you to launch more rockets to get the same result. AKA grinding

2) Put some extra fuel on the rocket that launches your science mission. That's not difficult, that's just tedious

Grinding is boring. It's not difficult or challanging.

I can't help but point out the irony though: You want the game to be more challanging, but you can't fly spaceplanes, so you want the science part for spaceplanes to be redesigned for rockets. What about the challange for planes? Or should it only be challanging for other people?

Tech tree is not intended to be difficult. You need most of parts in it to explore most of the system. Tech tree is means of introducing parts in small manageable increments to a new player.

Some real difficulty will hopefully be added with contracts and money in a few future releases.

I sort of wish the Materials Study was as big as the Mobile Processing Lab, and the Gravity Scan was the size of the current Materials Study. Then I would have a reason for transporting huge things. MPL needs rethinking as well.

Well, your arguments convinced me and so i changed my mind. Grinding is really boring, agreed. So as mentioned - i hope now that the contract system will be that desired challange =o)
