Asteroid bases unstable?

Recommended Posts

I'm building a asteroid base in ksp, but the seem to be a bit...unstable. They have a habit of either spinning rapidly or exploding the ships docked on to them. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way for the devs to fix this issue?

The mod I'm running are Mechjeb, UR, and Hyperedit.

My idea to prevent this was to only use the claw to nab the asteroid and then use Kerbal Attachment System to strut and pipe my base to the asteroid.

Granted, I don't know if this will actually work, but thats only because I haven't been able to get the claw in my career save yet.

You can attach things directly to asteroids? Also another issue is since I'm docking multiple modules to the base, when I need to pivot something, it tries to move all of the modules attached to it.

So far the base im building isnt having too much trouble other than my horrible docking skills. But its also only held on with 1 clamp. Dont know how well its gonna work when i try to attach the second and 3rd roids to it. I hear that even .1m/s will result in explodium.

You can with KAS. In the game, the asteroids are still just a 'part'.

I haven't tested yet but KAS struts might be a way to make the connection more rigid.

Your claw pivot is locked, right?
