Anybody use Chatterer? Need help.

Recommended Posts

I wanted to put this here as well as on the Chatterer Forum 'cause I think I'm just missing something, as opposed to needing Mod support.

Yesterday I downloaded my first mods and stuck the files in KSP game data. Kerbal Alarm Clock alarms but Chatterer fails to chatter, or beep. Volumes are up, frequency ( of occurrence ) is high, yet no chatter. Why no chatter?!? Why?!?

It's like there are no sound files for it to play though I can see the sound files load in the start up screen and there are sound files in KSP's game data file.

Hopefully this screen shot posts ( you may need to cut and paste- Sorry ), wherein you can see that the sample selector is empty and all the chatter sets contain 0 clips. I'm doing something stupid here but can't figure out what. Meanwhile all weekend launches are on standby and my industry partners are up in arm over the delays. Thankfully they didn't get me to sign a contract. I can feel that day coming though and I'm getting a little keyed up.

Later, at Mission control : K Deleted Chatterer files and re downloaded, unzipped it and put the whole Chatt. Game Data file into the KSP Game Data file, but I'm still not getting chatter or beeps.

Do you have to be in space?

Am I missing a part that needs to be on the ship for it to work, an antenna or something?

Help us Kerbal community, you're our only hope.

I'll monitor this frequency for your transmission. Out.

You don't have to be in space, just in a vessel. Have you tried hitting the '/' key? It looks like I'm running an older version (.5.9.002 vs your 0.5.9.3), so I'll try and update and get back to you.

I've tweaked it so much I feel guilty not asking it to marry me, also tried / and " to no avail. It works in sandbox right? You can see in the screen shot that there are no sound files in the sample selector, and all the sample sets have 0 cliips.

To test to see if it works you can force chatter (Only works with manned command pods) by hitting the "/" key (At least I think it's that one) if it chatters then it's working.

Make sure you have the latest Version of Blizzy's Toolbar (Not sure if it's required or not, but it never hurts)

Another thing to check is to make sure that you installed it correctly. Go into your Gamedata folder and open the chatterer folder. If there is another GameData inside then it's installed incorrectly and you need to move that GameData folder to the root directory (Wherever you have KSP Installed)

Yeah, sorry about posting in the wrong place but I wasn't getting any traffic where I was.

Oh man Taki thanks a bunch ( and for the PM. Its part of the give and take. ) We all knew the problem was between the chair and the key board. Did what you suggested and BINGO, chatter, beeps, heavy breathing, total nerdgasm. So cool. As an added bonus I did the same thing to Kerbal Alarm Clock and now the buttons have symbols on them. Thanks again!

So the solution is to peel the Chatterer Game Data file down to the file that says Chatterer and put that in the KSP game data file ( with KAC its peel to the file called Trigger tech).

And thanks to all who read or tried to help. I lurked for a long time... Nice to actually interact with you all.
