Is there a way to fool the game into thinking a craft is in a body's SOI if it's not?

I'm working on a mod at the moment that's a little hush-hush. I can't get into too much specifics because in all honesty, I'm still figuring out what I'm doing. However, the bottom line is this:

For whatever reason, I am setting a body's SOI to zero. However, I want that body to still act as the primary body for my spacecraft in every respect when it satisfies a condition of my choosing. Is there a way to do this without making the body's SOI radius non-zero? Thanks!

I suspect the static boolean overrideOrbit has something to do with it, but I'm not sure how to implement it.
