The day i lost everything...

yesterday my save file went corrupt. the game just locks up when i load the save. i even tried to manually delete flights i deemed problematic from the persistence file... without success.

i lost everything in an instance. my mun, minmus and duna bases. my space stations, my ISS replica, my satellite network.. all the hard work gone with the wind.

Backup your save files, folks. You never know when fate strikes! :(

Are you on windows and do you have the windows restore feature switched on?

If so you should be able to right-click on your save file, hit properties, select 'previous versions' tab and hopefully you'll be able to restore it to how it was around 24 hours ago.

Then for the future, you might want something that will protect you from that ever happening again, something that puts your save and craft files into an automatically managed version control system and enables you to go rewind craft and saves to any previous version with a couple clicks. I've been working on a tool called Jebretary which does just that, click the link in my sig.

yep. i just added the persistent to my daily backup script. but its too late now.

i could rebuild some with my crafts and hyperedit. but the WORK (transfers, dockings etc..) is still lost.

may others read this thread and learn from my mistake.

Unfortunately such things can and will happen while the game is under development, there is also no guarantee that all savegames will stay versioncompatible with further releases.

Better do not get to much attached to your accomplishments in your saves.

What about quicksave?

This. It happened to me once and I replaced the persistent with a recent quicksave. Have you tried it?

1. Go into save file.

2. Delete persistent.sfs.

2. Rename quicksave.sfs. persistent.sfs.

If you make a new save and copy your ships into it one by one, you may be able to recover majority of them.

Don't forget to copy the time mark, too.

This is doable.

If you follow the link at the bottom of my signature, my tool will extract out various ships, etc, for splicing in.
