Space Shuttle mod recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I'm still pretty new to KSP, but I wanted some input on a space shuttle mod. I really don't know much about add-ons but can't wait to fly a shuttle. I'm looking for the following:

-realistic looking shuttle, not stock parts

-a mod that does NOT require mech jeb or any other additional mods.

-want a shuttle that is functional (not just for looks), i.e. working cargo bay, docking ability, can haul parts, etc.

If their is a mod out there that fits these criteria, I'd love to know about it. Thanks.

Hmm there are 3 off the top of my head:

The CSS shuttle which is still in development and is an exact replica of the real shuttle:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71360-Component-Space-Shuttle-dev-thread-IMG-heavy! This does require some extra mods but trust me it's worth it, look at the pictures

The kerbin mini shuttle which is tiny compared with the rest but a bigger one is in development:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68429-0-23-5-Kerbin-Shuttle-Orbiter-System-v2-08-aka-Kerbin-Mini-Shuttle

And lastly the tiberdyne shuttle which is a bit old but still works perfectly:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/4116-0-22-TiberDyne-Aerospace-R-D-Division-Shuttle-System-3-5-Alpha-All-New-Parts!

If you're ok with it not looking exactly like the real STS, the Kerbin Mini Shuttle (and it's soon to be released big brother) are the best bang for the buck. It's performance is pretty close to the real thing while still being easy to use.

If you want a replica specifically of the NASA shuttle, there's Tiberdyne's (old) and Component Space Shuttle (unfinished).

If you want a shuttle in the more generic sense with very Kerbal aesthetics, there's the Kerbin Mini Shuttle.

If you want to build a shuttle from your own imagination using more discrete parts, get B9 and Shuttle Engines. (I also highly recommend using RealFuels and Ferram Aerospace for such a project as well.)
