Satellite angle change while orbiting

Recommended Posts

Is it possible, or is there a plugin that allows my satellites to point at the surface,no matter where they are on their orbit(poles, equator)?

Some of my science modules ,scanners, don't work if perfectly aligned.

MechJeb's SmartA.S.S. can do that. I think you have to stay focused on the satellite, though.

Yes, though it's my experience that when you switch back to the **** Smart A.S.S. will start again and reorient the ship. (It's one of the reasons that SAS really should be as strong as it is. IRL reaction wheels can take a loooooong time to make small adjustments to attitude, and that's perfectly fine. But with KSP we get things put on rails and those adjustments that could've been made with a tiny amount of torque over a long period have to be done in a fraction of the time.)

Your second statement confuses me. If you are using a Mod like ScanSAT or Kethane the scanner orientation doesn't matter.

I hope it wasn't the misspellings that confused you,i reedited the post and didn't give it another look.

However it is the kethane scanne, scan sat makes no problems but it seems that if not is not facing the surface,it doesn't scan.

As far as my observations go.

It would be very unusual for the kethane sensor to depend on orientation. I haven't used it much myself but didn't find it had to keep pointing at the ground. Certainly none of the stock science equipment, SCANSat or even RT2, which requires some antennae to be set to a particular target, expect you to keep them physically aimed.

Do you have enough solar panels and batteries on your probe? The most likely thing is that you're running out of electricity on the night-side of a body and the sensor no longer has the power to operate.

Kethane and scan sat shouldn't care about the orientation, since they both can scan under time warp.

Kethane doesn't scan in the background though, whereas Scansat does. (Scansat will scan as long as your current ship has at least a MapTraq.)
