Fuel problem.

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry to bug you but now I've got another one. So I re docked with my orbiting lab around Minmus. But I'm having trouble refueling. So I can right click and then ALT right click to bring up the fuel transfer menu. But it seem to only allow me to transfer the small bit of fuel that I have in the lander tanks back and forth. It will not allow me to refuel the lander with any new fuel from the lab. It's like my lander tanks are now only a fraction of their original size. I can shift the .6 fuel that I have left back and forth but I can't get any more? Am I doing some thing wrong and what do the little green arrows and bar sinister mean at the far right of the transfer bar. Again am I doing some thing wrong or is the program misinterpreting the size of my tanks? Oddly it worked fine with the mono propellant. I just can't get any rocket fuel.

tYou should be able to refuel your lander by right clicking tank A and ALT+Right click Tank B and then hitting EITHER Out on Tank A (Which is your fuel source) OR in on Tank B (Which is your lander) Also, screenshots will help.

That's what I've been doing. And it does work. I can transfer the .61 that I have left both too and from the lab to the lander but I can't move any more fuel then that. The .61 leaves the lander and goes to the lab and can move back from the lab to the lander but I can't get any more fuel then that.

I'm not really a computer gamer kind of guy. How do I take a screen shot and post it here?

A screenshot with you trying to transfer the fuel would probably help. Are you clicking on the right part, i.e. on fuel tank? Does it show a dialog with liquid fuel and oxidizer, or does it say "monopropellant"?

Edit: some pictures

Edit 2:

You press F1 in game to make a screenshot. Then you need to find the folder into which the game is installed (right-click on its icon, select Properties and then find target), open its Screenshots subfolder, it should be there.

Upload the image to some free image host (e.g. http://imgur.com) and post the image here as:

Ok. Pics. If I did this right the first should be of the fuel transfer screen. I'm trying to send rocket fuel from the tank on the lab. the second hopefully shows the fuel transferred from the lander to the lab. And I can then send that .61 back to the lander. So the fuel transfer works. But I can not get any more fuel from the lab.

****. No joy. So I've found the file of the pic but it wont let me post it only links to web sites. Does this problem make since to any one? Why is it treating it like the lander only has a tank of .61 and .5 volume?

For your screenshot: Upload it to the internet using tinypic.com

Than post the link you get here

My guess is you aren't clicking the right tank.

As for the symbols, a green arrow means the resource can be drained from the tank. A red crossed circle means the resource will not be drained from the tank, it's effectively disabled. Click the symbol to swap between them. This isn't often needed for fuel and oxidizer, but it's helpful to stop monopropellant tanks in landers getting drained.

Ok, that didn't work. Which of those links am I supposed to use? I used the imbed pic icon and the URL it gave.

Fixed it for you:

Also your problem is immediately clear, there is no fuel in your tanks to begin with. You can't transfer something you don't have. Try using different tanks.

Indeed.

To add, I believe the fuel in the orbiter's tanks will be emptied in this order:

Rockomax 16 tank first. (The one you clicked).

Rockomax 32 tank next. (The one below it).

FL-T400s last. (The ones with the nukes under them).

Even though when you're running your engines the fuel flows automatically, when you manually transfer fuel you need to select a tank in a stack that is still full.
