Kerbal Warfare Challange

Yeah... I'm finding this challenge a bit bizarre to be honest it seems to be more about pretend and make believe then the actual combat capabilities of the craft in question. :P

I'm sure I've seen that Cupcake craft before somewhere? What's challenging in pasting up the same old craft that I've seen a hundred times, especially when anyone able to read would know it can't qualify? Like OMG a challenge the stock gods can't go in - NO, they'll enter regardless and complain after that a challenge should better fit them.

Two sepratrons and a decoupler isn't pretend but a mod that assigns various armor and weapon strength, and various damage states is, personally I can't see it. The stock metal plates and "I" beams are assigned a reasonable Skillful armor value, isn't that why there's a couple without weapons that have done better, they're well armored? You should at least use those to protect cockpit/engines/fueltank? At least make just a tiny effort to have that pre-existing craft slightly adapted to be just a tad more effective in Skillful, which was obviously required in the OP :)

Some times a wonderful pre-existing stock creation, one of the best there is, just isn't suitable for a particular challenge, me, I'd just not enter it, or maybe adapt it.

The problem was when the challenge was initially posted it didn't have that as a requirement, it was a suggested mod. Then it was changed, and now it is required but partially so. As the OP is giving scores to vehicles that do not have the Skillful weapons mod on them and yet turning away others. It doesn't take Sherlock to go back and look through the submissions to see which ones have it and which ones do not. Not saying that any of them are bad, all of them are actually quite interesting and good.

Okay, the speed is (at maximum altitude, which is a little into the first dark blue ring of the atmosphere meter) 247m/s, and the thing handles very well. I remember taking off from the runway, and one turn later, being on the other side of the VAB on a attack run to two AA guns on the other side of the SPH. It can withstand multiple hits from a CIWS, and even if you drop one of the outboard bombs it won't go into a spin. It'll fly straight even with a asymmetrical flameout (I shut down a intake and a engine to test this, and left them off for a minuite. Nothing happened.) Oh, and it can roll twice in 1.5 seconds. And it has two of the B9 8-spotlight arrays underneath, so it can do low-level bombing runs.

Because I wanted to finish two projects here they are... one is WELL within the rules of this challenge unless they change again.

FSP-1

FSP-1 is a light single seat, SSTO multi-role fighter. It is capable of mounting 8 hard points ( 2 wing tip Air to Air Missiles, 4 under wing hardpoints and 2 under fuselage. Also has like many of my single seat aircraft, a pilot capsule ejection system, or PCE for short.

And now for my personal favorite which is not valid for this challenge because it actually mounts a gun that works, the GAU-19 in the nose.

FSP-3

FSP-3 is a two seat, SSTO attack craft. With a GAU-19 20mm Gatling gun mounted in a special nose cone. Also has 2 weapon bays, that can hold a max of 2x 2000lb bombs internally protecting them from re-entry heat. It also has wingtip hard points for air to air missiles for defense.

ooh, loving the Su-37 "Berkut" you've got there... if you've ever flown one of those in FS, with proper flight controllers (I mean, throttles an' all, not some twenty Dollar stick), you'll probably appreciate why I love the plane so much... although, the Russian model has a twin vertical stabiliser... that said, have a look at this:

The Berkut. Goes very high and ridiculously fast, and still manages to spin on a dime.

(The Hammerhead was designed first, apparently only one full-sized static mockup was ever built (from cardboard and steel and landing gear scrounged off a Cessna) but I do keep finding snippets claiming that fibreglass mockups were built and shipped open-deck across the Pacific.)

This was one of the first planes I ever tried to build in KSP (many, many moons ago!), might try again now I've got better engines!

I actually considered going with a twin tail stabilizer setup but been having issues with Pwing lately... may need to do a fresh install of KSP again.

And the forward wing sweep was actually a necessity. I needed to move the CoL closer to the CoM without moving the wing roots further forward. I also needed to keep the wings with enough sweep so it would be able to go supersonic, and still handle halfway decently.

Edit: If the lazer guided weapons disqualify me I hope you just imagine I took them off. It's still an armor plated flying tank cannon with autoturrets facing every direction

Also thanks a bunch for the compliment, it means a lot. I seriously love this game, it's like playing with legos again. I have an old cartoon jet replica that I'm going to release soon that I'm really excited about, turned out way better than I could have ever imagined, keep a look out for it. Hopefully next week.

As for the Lazer guided weapons. If that disqualifies it I hope OP just considers it without those missiles. It's still a formidable war machine without them, and it's the only flying tank turret I've seen.

But I have low hopes, cupcake's didn't count and that thing is seriously the coolest

Hey guys i will post my fighter, the F-11 thunderbolt soon. It will have at least 3 versions ( a civil test plane, the default fighter and a ground attack one)

Small teaser: it can go over 340m/s and is inspired from the fabulous MiG-29

It is currently solely crew transport and is thus weapon-free but they could be easily added.

Intended as a sub-orbital transport, but is an orbit capable SSTO. When refueled in orbit it has Kerbin SOI escape capabilities.

After MCA Labs dele... i mean got his files stolen by a red spy, we redesigned the F-11 by using the XF-11 protoype. This is the better, more struttier, more powerful F-11 A2

Still a heavy/ground attack plane capable of maneuvring well, fitted with heat seeking missiles and bomb, and 2 more 30mm than before! The engineers never liked the invisible struts and prefered not to put any.

Mods:B9,Skilful,TT Wheels, TV Aerospace. The SPH pictures are a bit different because i realised the tail winglets didnt move

It's a shame but I think we scared off the OP.... was a decent challenge aside from the scoring system.

Yeah I guess so. I dig the skilful weapons mod but the stock made weapons are way more impressive to me. Like I said cupcake's weapons are amazing. I'm gonna just keep blowing up this thread with ships, I just released a new one that I have to weaponize.

I present you the marvel of MCA Labs, the F-11 A Thunderbolt.

And i dig you craft man, but I'm gonna hit you with some constructive criticism. First and more importantly, daylight man. You gotta take you're pics in the daylight, I cant really see anything.

The only thing I can see is in the hanger, and the plane isn't centered in the pic. Also, you're already using b9, you should use those struts without the connecting piece in the middle. It's much cleaner, but if you feel like that isn't realistic, hide those things either on the bottom of the craft or inside the wing.

You can connect the struts on the side of the wings(the edges where the black circles are), then attach wings to them completely hiding the struts. Which is just so much cleaner.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, cause it's a cool ship, I'm just trying to give you some tips

good idea, i really didn't think about it. I will update with daylight photos , but i see the night ones pretty clear tho. I just dont understand the wing edge thing. maybe some pictures would help.

(update) Oh, understood. And when is the KGLE gonna judge the F-11A?
