Highest Circular orbit above Kerbin ,and an optianal secondary challenge.

Recommended Posts

Alright men, here\'s the challenge. We are going to test the affects of ultra-high orbit on or little test-subjects rocketeers. You must try and achieve the highest possible orbit you can above Kerbin, here are the requirements.

Score will be found by the average of your orbits

Rules.

  • [li]You must include a picture of the original rocket. (although a documentary of the mission would be great)[/li]
[li]You must only use stock parts, no exceptions.[/li]
[li]Your apopapsis and periapsis must be within 500,000m of each other.[/li]
[li]You must have both the periapsis and apoapsis in one picture (Two if debris blocks the view)[/li]
    [li]No leaving the Kerbin SOI.[/li]

Secondary Challenge

Oh no! It appears there was a malfunction while in orbit and your pod was decoupled from the rocket! We need to send a rocket and get those kerbals back or we could lose valuable scientific data!

  • [li]Stock parts only[/li]
[li]You must detach your original pod from the rest of your ship. (The one in high orbit)[/li]
[li]You must send a rocket equiped to rendezvous with the lost pod.[/li]
[li]You must return both crews to kerbin safely.[/li]
[li]The crew in the lost pod must be returned to within sight of KSC
[/li][li]Picture documentary must be included of rendezvous and the return.[/li]

I\'m guessing there is a hard limit to how high an orbit can be while remaining in Kerbin\'s sphere of influence.

It\'s around 87,000-89,000km.
