What to do?

Recommended Posts

Now I've played KSP for what must be... about three years and three months now.

And I just seem to get bored whenever I end up starting my game.

And I'm not even that far in my current save, I haven't even gotten past Kerbin's SOI.

Why has KSP lost it's feel with me?

I know asking other people why I think things probably isn't a logical thing to ask, but let me rephrase that.

Has anyone gotten bored with KSP, even though they've played it for years?

Of course people have got bored of KSP. You should take a break from the game for a while and wait until the next update or the one after. Then when you come back hopefully you will start enjoying the game again.

if you are looking for something fresh, try downloading some mods (if you haven't already). Dave Kerbin (another user) has posted several career threads with unique story lines, such as probe only and Better Than Starting Manned.

Also, like Pursuedtank said, after three years it's probably okay to take a break. You might be better off taking a break rather than dragging along and losing interest completely.

I bought the game months ago and it just sat unplayed after my initial foray. Basically, I was lost (unsure what to do) and I'm not the most motivated person to dive in and figure out "the guts" of the program. A few days ago I was bored with the games I've been playing and discovered Scott Manley's KSP tutorial series on YouTube. All of the sudden, the game is interesting because Scott is explaining to me what I'm supposed to be doing as I play the game. That's exactly what I needed - you mentioned "SOI" which I assume stands for "sphere of influence"... well in one day Scott has already taken me to the Mun - I think it's in episode 4. So if you're stuck with figuring out how to do orbits and "transfer" between planets, I highly recommend watching them.

Here's the first episode:

If you want/need inspiration, check out Scott Manley's playlist. Particularly "Eve or Bust", and "Interstellar Quest". Interstellar quest requires the use of mods, whereas Eve or Bust does not. Nonetheless, there are great ideas in both, and most certainly a learning experience. In addition to all that, you get entertainment and a cool accent! Good luck on all of your ventures, and may you blow up many rockets!

I got bored with the stock sized Kerbin, so I went RSS with full Realism Overhaul. I enjoy the game again, but it is frustrating to no end trying to build a SSTO in it.
