How would you calculate the terminal velocity during ascend in KSP?

Using stock aerodynamics, this was calculated long ago and is shown in mechjeb. For how to do it from basics in code, Fd = maximum_drag * mass * flightglobals.drag_multiplier * atmospheric density * v^2, therefore v^2 = g / (maximum_drag * flightglobals.drag_multiplier * atmospheric density)

If you're not aiming to do this in code, just use mechjeb, or flight engineer may also measure terminal velocity. There isn't a straightforward rule of thumb.
