How do "plugins" work?

Yo!

I was wondering how KSP plugins really work. I believe so it's done in C#(correct me if I'm wrong) and I have some knowledge of C# and I have been using Unity for a little while now. I was thinking: How do you make a plugin in KSP. Like something simple. A menu that gives you a quest or something to do! So please help me on how you would do this.

To summarize if you don't get it. How do you code a plugin in KSP!

basically it's all about getting your code to run. Unity and KSP both offer an assortment of methods you can hook into or override, plus a set of GameEvents, pick thing that makes your code run at the time that you want it to and then do stuff until you're confused.
