Should dead mods be locked?

Should I run through the add-on releases list and report mods that are dead because there is no download link other than Spaceport? In my opinion, this would prevent threads from being bumped due to people asking for an alternative download.

An alternative is to give "dead" mods a special tag called [DEAD] which would help identify mods that are abandoned.

What do you guys think?

Locked? No!

If you lock it even the topic starter would not be able to revive it without moderator help.

Marked? Yes.

Just not sure if it needs a special [DEAD] tag. A moderator can just as easy edit the first post to clarify the links are broken. Once the mod creator returns to active duty he or she can then update the links and remove the moderator edit.

I agree that these mods should not be locked, but could be marked better. That said, any changes moderators make should be highly visible and alter as little of the post content as possible. I think a [DEAD] or [iNACTIVE] tag, something that the modder could remove, would be best. The tags are visible from the forum, not just the post, making them easier to see.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
