Electric Universe Theory

I just finished a book, "The Electric Universe", and thought it looked worth looking into a bit more.

Has anyone here done any reading up on this? Couldn't find any mention of it on the forum after a somewhat quick search.

Here is a video I found that goes over most of what is covered in the book if anyone is interested.

I'm no expert on the subject, but as far as I've been able to see, most proponents on the internet are utter cranks. (and not just that, the worst kind of cranks, the ones who just make debating with them laborious, because they're so self-assured and credible in their wrongness, unless you're an expert yourself. The type who will say something like, "you haven't taken into account the Kerzhakov equation in combination with the Browning assumption", which means you have to do three hours of reading to find out that they either lied, or fundamentally misunderstood the theory)

Everyone on board the pseudoscience train! CHOO-CHOO!!!

...

Okay that sounded a lot better in my head.

Anyway just a little searching turned-up this:

I bet I can dig up more. But suffice to say...this is bonkers.

Lol, I was going to post the same link. The "debate" in the comments between Neird [sic] and Michael whoever is so damn funny.

That article seems a bit off the topic in the video or the book I read. Something similar maybe but there are more points being made then that.

Haven't gotten that far, but comments like '(I) find their arguments compelling - even though I'm NOT a scientist.' do make me smile.

The guy you see talking in the video isn't even a scientist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Talbott

Read his idea of the "Polar Configuration" it's even crazier..

There is more then one guy in the video. I agree that is bit too far of a leap. It sounds like he came to that conclusion from looking at history. You wouldn't need planets to be passing near each other to explain what he is proposing. Comets would be enough.
