Part Volumes

Anyone know a simple way to determine the volume of existing parts? Either the default Squad/NASA parts, or from mods.

At the moment, specifically, I want to know the volume of the Mystery Goo containment unit, but eventually I'll be looking for the volume of other parts.

There's a few methodologies depending on how specific you want to be. If you just need an estimate you can use Jeb's Big Stick to measure it's length and diameter, then feed them into a geometry calculator, remember, Length - Diameter = A

If you want to get more specific then you're going to need to decompile the mesh, more on that in this thread:

It's important to note as described in that thread that the mesh is composed of flat faces, so you can get the volume of the mesh, but you can also derive the measurements of the smooth geometry that the mesh intends to represent. The numbers will differ by a subtle amount, it may be inconsequential to your purposes.
