Argentina was a worthy opponent though. Fantastic play by them, and I say that as a German.

The whole match was two powerful and evenly matched teams fighting it out to the last. The mediocre referee got in the way of that a bit (as usual for this worldcup, really), but at least the wrong decisions were halfway evenly spread over both teams.

Also, I am now convinced that Schweinsteiger is a German tank in a fleshy disguise. Gets run over, mowed down, kicked and punched in the face, sits bleeding on the side with the trainer already sending a replacement up, and what does he do? Run back in shouting "give me that damn ball RIGHT NOW!"

To be honest, this was the first time I really got "involved" in a world cup, and I had to admit that watching Colombia win game after game was pretty damn exciting. After Brazil stole the game from them (James didn't commit that fault and Yepes's goal was valid), I felt really mad about it. I mean, this is the freaking world cup! How could they allow this referee to be so biased?!

Watching Germany vs. Brazil, I felt really relieved. Here's my favorite world cup gif (from imgur):

Congrats to German team, they've deserved this. Argentinian team behaved awful.

The World Cup 2014 was a cacophony of stupid stuff, but yielded great laughs online.

Yep, catastrophic referees this world cup and all, Suarez' vampiric tendencies, Neymar's Mortal Combat finishing move, Brasil's failed RAID and stuff, but all in all it was a cool championship O_o

No Blitzkrieg like in the semi-finals against Brazil, but the final match was fun and sometimes nervewrecking to watch anyway. Too bad my stream went down for a moment just when Germany scored. Most of the Dutch population (81%) rooted for Die Mannschaft btw ... !

I can't help but laugh hard when I see that gif. hahahaha

The overall quality of the referees on this WC was pretty damn low. That was only one of the games that the result could have been different if the referee did his job right. But, except for German, the other three teams that made into the semifinals had their bit of 'referee helping'. I think that's why I like the german victory even more.

Gotta say the Brazilian audience surprised me in a positive way; when the Netherlands won the 'alternative' final with 3 - 0 against Brazil, the majority of the Brazilians stayed to cheer the Dutch team ... !
