Flight UI Size setting doesn't do anything?

Recommended Posts

It changes the size of the navball and buttons (like the staging stack). To me, small increment changes seem pretty unnoticable. But going from the smallest to largest, I can definitely tell a difference.

I've even modified the settings.cfg to give an even larger navball. KSP will accept the new size as long as you don't edit any other settings in-game.

I should mention this is in windows. I don't know if there is some mac issue/limitation.

Yup, as Claw says, one "notch" on the setting isn't noticeable. Two or three should be evident.

Also, remember it's the Flight UI, it won't change the Vehicle Assembly Building at all, or the settings screen you're making the change in. And it doesn't change quite everything in flight: navball and altimeter will be enlarged, resources panel will not.

Hmm, if I recall correctly the resource panel also enlarges. Although I think the increment on it is really small. I think the clock in the top left also sizes a bit.

Unfortunately I can't check it at the moment. I sort of remember this from when I started having display issues with 0.23.5.

OK, thanks. What I was trying to do is change the size of the window the program runs in. My OS (Mac OS 7.6) will do "full screen" and make it fill the screen, but that distorts it (the aspect ration of the monitor isn't the same as the game screen).

That's a different issue entirely. You need to change the Game resolution (In the Settings section when you first start the game) to match your screen Resolution.

Yeah, like Taki said. You want the resolution settings. The UI setting simply changes the size of the graphics in game, but not the size of the window itself.

I would also recommend that if you are going to run the game at the full resolution of your monitor, use full screen mode or borderless window mode. Running full resolution in window mode seems to cause problems with 0.23.5.

Thanks for the help. On this suggestion...

Full screen mode distorts the images, since it forces the window to use the aspect ratio of my monitor. I don't know what borderless window mode is (is is a Windows thing?).

What problems happen?

Okay, perhaps I should break the problem down differently.

Full screen mode distorts the images, since it forces the window to use the aspect ratio of my monitor.

If this is your problem, then you need to change your game resolution.

In the main menu, go to settings, then graphics. Change the graphics resolution to match the aspect ratio of your monitor. If you're going to use full screen, it's easiest to just make the game's resolution match your monitor's resolution.

I don't know what borderless window mode is (is is a Windows thing?).

No, a completely separate issue. If you are going to use full resolution (separate from full screen), then I recommend running in full screen OR borderless window mode. If you followed the above paragraph (match the game resolution to your monitor resoluton), then your aspect should not be all stretched when you use full screen mode.

Borderless window mode can be done in windows by making a shortuct to KSP.exe, then edit the shortcut properties and add -popupwindow to the command line. So it should look like "C:/Games/KSP.exe -popupwindow" (except without the quotes).

What problems happen?

The short answer is possible graphics glitches and crashes during scene change.
