Flag showing on EVA jetpack

In the recent update your command pods and such now show your mission's flag on the side. Apparently, it also shows on the EVA jetpack. It's horrible. The flag is on both sides and isn't actually connected to the pack, so it's jumpy when you move even slightly.

Is there any way to keep the flag from showing up?

I think you can turn off flag icons for the whole vessel, which could solve your problem. I think it's possible to turn off flags on individual parts in the VAB, but not while in space, so if you want flags on your vessels but not on the EVA packs, I don't think you can do that.

Oddly, I haven't had this problem, my flags aren't "jumpy" at all. Are you using custom flag images or unusual graphical settings?

I can't think of any way to do that, other than setting your flag to a blank transparent (see-thru) image.

I've never made a flag, so I don't know if it's even possible to do that, but it's simple enough to find out.

All you should need to do is mess with the alpha channel of a 256x160 PNG image. That's the 4th number that describes the color of a paintbrush in something like Photoshop or GIMP (Red,Green,Blue,Alpha).

If that doesn't work, try setting it to flat white (256,256,256) or flat black (0,0,0) because for some reason games sometimes count that as transparent instead.

AFAIK you can only turn off the flag on parts in the VAB. To do that, you right click the part, and click on the "Toggle flag" button, which does exactly what it says it does.

Unfortunately, you have to do that for each individual part on the rocket that has a flag on it. Good news is that only a few parts have flags on them. I think only crewed command pods, the Hitchhiker can, and a few of the new parts from 0.23.5 have flags on them.

If you're using a custom flag that's not 256 x 160, I could see the game handling it poorly. It looks like there isn't a "no flag" option, so creating a transparent flag would be your solution for that.

The way I've gotten around dealing with this for the most part is that I added a totally blank .png flag to the folder and I made that my default flag. So unless I specifically select a flag for a particular mission, they don't show up on the EVA packs. Or anywhere else.

That's a pretty poor thing to have to do to fix this, my flag is the correct size. Moreover, I want to be able to plant flags on places I visit. This was not a problem (IIRC) before I used a texture replacer for the jetpack.

perhaps the issue is you are using a texture replacer for the jetpack. mods are less stable than the stock game.

There's no reason it would cause problems just by switching textures. The model that the flag is placed on is not affected.

"it worked fine before i used a mod" leads me to believe the problem is the mod.

I'd also be interested in hearing what causes this. I have the same problem (I also use Texture Replacer), but only sometimes. Weird.
