emissive texture based on heat for every item

Title says all.

I know that it is possible to add certain attributes to parts with a single 3 lined .cfg file.(e.g. adding MJ to pods)

So, wouldn't it be possible to add an emissive texture for all items, value based on their current temperature?

A follow up on this, shouldn't engine exhaust color be based on their temperature as well? So high ISP engines would have bluish exhaust, and low ISP engines should have yellow exhaust? But then the chemistry of the fuel mix could mess up this rule.
