Pepper Colonization

It might be cheaper to just send 1 male and 1 female Kerbal to a planet when the costs come out in 24. Unless of course they reproduce like amoebas or mogwai. Then just let em do what they do.

Ok.

What. The. Hell.

1. You could do that, but what happens when they need more bases to live in?

2. Kerbals most likely need food!

3. You have to spam bases or maybe make a base with a factory, farm, and a mine so it could expand itself. (like with mods and stuff)

Please try to properly formulate ideas before releasing them, otherwise i'm just gonna keep shooting you down.

Send a couple of Kerbals with enough to survive indefinitely, and provide further infrastructure via probe-based transportation when necessary. They can 'do their thing' and have room for expansion as required.

No point sending a massive population.

You mean: drop them alone in EVA mode from orbit? Should be doable with uber-RCS that they have.

you see - as long as there is no life support requirements and Kerbals are borderline immortal - bases and "colonization" is nothing more than an eye candy.

I'll bet you can't say that by v.1.0

You'd want a few thousand colonists for good genetic variation.

Unless Kerbals really are all asexual clones of Jeb, in which case... just send Jeb.

Jeb would explore as far as his own genetic degenerescence amongst hybrids generations allow him too, dunno if you can call that courage or stupidity as long as he's enough kind to feed us with some feedback.

as far as genetic diversity the 50/500 rule would apply here. of course just like any rule there are ways to circumvent it allowing for even smaller colonies while still maintaining a healthy level of genetic diversity.

I was always under the impression that Jeb reproduces by having his rocket explode, sending him into a million pieces all over the place. Then these pieces will eventually grow into individual Kerbals and elect a new 'Jeb'.
