custom hardware question?

i have been looking at all these amazing custom hardware threads and was wondering if instead of having to build these we could just use things like flight simulator controllers? thanks

Unless something changed in the past 30 seconds joysticks worked fine.

People use custom hardware because it's a fun challenge to build.

most of them seem to be used for flight sim x. the mopre i think about it though this saw a rushed question with little research....sorry about that

Well, TBH I think that there is a part of the game where both keyboard + mouse or joystick really do not work well: rovers. But that is probably more the fault of the game than anything else ( I personally dislike the lack of propulsion control and the stiff brakes ... ). I would defintely like something that can control a rover in a similar way to a car :/

For me it is definitely the fun of building it, the extra functionality and the potential money savings are just an excuse. And it had the convenient benefit of teaching me a lot of practical electronics.
