I'm curious what you guys think of the symbolism/metaphor in these two popular songs:

I interpreted "Pompeii" as being metaphorical for the ash covering everything being symbolic for the culture covering over and absorbing our individuality, for instance... (the music video's post-apocalyptic scenes and black eyes might help you make sense of this interpretation)

"Counting Stars" seemed to be similarly about individualism vs. conformity, although the metaphor/symbolism seemed much less concealed.

People on this forum tend to be rather intelligent and insightful, so I'm curious what you guys think.
