Solar Storm, new game coming out. (FTL/KSP/Lego... kinda)

The only aspect that's KSP really is that it will supposedly utilize orbital mechanics to travel from planet to planet. It all seems very ambitious, in some ways taking the most complex aspects of FTL (the non-linear story-telling and internal crew compartments) and KSP (orbital mechanics and ship building). It'll be 2D, so that should help ease the complexity. But all the same, they've put themselves up for a big challenge.

So, what do you guys think?

The problem with most early access games is, that a good idea needs not only talent, knowledge and money... The thing an indie game needs most is heart, care, responsibility and the will to get done. That is why so few indie early access games see a final release. I'll stay with KSP.

Yes, let's bash a game without looking at it for its chosen distribution method. Clearly this will make the industry a better place and earn gamers respect as a group of mature people!

Sarcasm aside, nobody is asking you to buy it, or even participate in this discussion if you do not want to be involved with early access games. Which is kind of ironic, considering you're posting on the forums of an early access game. Keep it classy, KSP community!

Usally early access developers rake in the cash, slow the development and just give up on the game. I only play ksp because it is actually being developed and it is playable.

And this actual game does not seem unique or interesting at all. There are a lot of these spaceship-Lego games.

Really? Like what? I'd love to try some other games like this, especially considering it meshes the styles of FTL and KSP (even if it is just a bit of orbital mechanics) in a very interesting way.

It isn't a distribution method. It's a funding and development method. People have reasons to be skeptical.

When dev teams that don't publish send back the money they got for development then you can bash consumers. I assure you, it's not just the end users that make the industry what it is.
