How do I map controls?

Recommended Posts

When the game loads the main menu, go to Settings > Input. The most important controls for the gamepad are under "Staging UI." There, you can assign axis controls. I recommend using either buttons for the throttle or the incremental version. On my gamepad, I tend to have pitch and yaw on the left stick and roll on the right. For buttons, you can click the second button for each item to assign to the gamepad without overwriting the key binding.

Odd... I use an older version of that gamepad. Are you on a Mac? I always have to plug in the controller before starting any game, or it's not recognized.

I ended up fishing my gamepad back out and swapping the yaw and roll controls back to their standard configuration (pitch and roll on the left stick, yaw and incremental throttle on the right). Works much better for planes and I don't need that much control for rockets.

Bumping this with a similar issue. Just got a F310 and tried to map controls via the settings tab at the main menu, and KSP didn't accept the input. Granted, this was in XInput mode, and I'm going to give it a whirl with the Logitech Gaming software package, but it's still odd that it didn't accept it.

Odd. I picked up an F310 over the weekend and mapped everything (both sticks, D-Pad and all but two of the buttons) through the Settings interface. Haven't downloaded any Logitech software yet. Worked flawlessly after I tuned the sensitivity on the analog axes. Unhelpful, I'll admit, but at least it's another data point.

One thing I'll note is that I waited until Windows had done it's whole song and dance about installing drivers before I even started KSP. Also, I've only tried it with the mode switch on the back in the default position --- however it came out of the box. I did test that the Settings interface would recognize the sticks in the other position (and it did), but immediately put the switch back.
