DMP -- confused about how to set up and play with a friend

Hi everyone

a friend and i have decided to play DMP because KMP is too laggy, after many attempts a few months ago we gave up but out of pure determination i still wanted to play!

unfortunately i cannot find a decent DMP server tutorial (not the dub step walkthroughs! AAH!) and i am asking help here :)

any step by step guide or easy to follow tutorial would be helpful, just please make it relevant to setting up and joining your own server and letting a friend join. And im sure other people are having issues as well.
