"Quick Reply" adding title by default

Just noticed that quick replies are now adding the title of the thread in the title field, making threads a bit more difficult to read (more noise, less signal). One must go advanced or edit the post to remove it.

Is this behavior intentional or a side effect of the changes made to help cope with high server load?

Edit: Change appears to have happened around 09:47 UTC.

It's something I enabled this morning, if more people dislike the behaviour I'll revert the change

voting for reverting to the old way. seeing the same bold black text every 3 inches is a tad annoying.
