Entry cost, different from real cost

Recommended Posts

Hey guys first post go easy on me. I love ksp its my favorite game but this is really bothering me. In career mode in .24 the R&D cost or "Entry Purchase" is off from what it is in the VAB. I cant seem to find a rime or reason for them to be different i went into the ini files and changed them all to match... it really bothered me. Can anyone tell me why they are different?

Welcome to the forums :)

The 'Entry Cost' is supposed to be the cost to unlock the part having unlocked the node with science. (Caveat: this is a widely held view in the community, but I've never seen anything from the devs to confirm that.) Currently, this cost isn't used, and the numbers are just placeholders, which may or may not be changed if unlock costs are ever implemented.

It is unrelated to the actual purchase prices of the parts in the VAB.

You can think of it as a 'prototyping cost' if you like.

I agree with Alexin,

It seems the entry cost is a yet unused feature. I kinda hope that the entry cost is added to career mode in the future - but it needs to be super user-friendly or people will get confused. "Wait, I unlocked the node... where are my parts?"

Ok glad i went through and changed the values then in the ini files since its about 3 months per update i can't stand little things like that to be different. While i was at it i made kw rocketry and b9 values work with .24.
