Yes, I'm finding SRBs to be more cost effective as well, at least at the stage I'm currently at.

For instance, my new Duna ship (still have some tweak to make, but it's mostly done), is at around $272k. Only the SRB stages (and two drop tanks on the lander) are disposable. The mid-stage, transfer stage, and lander are all recoverable.
