It makes me sad that an amazing game such as Kerbal Space Program is using royalty music. I think it should have it's own soundtrack. I'm willing to produce said soundtrack for free.

So just for fun I'm going to get the help of the forum, and with your input produce some quality tracks that are worthy of the game. Below is a list of tracks I have completed. Tell me what you think, and give me some input. If the thread catches enough momentum, maybe the developers will show some interest in using the tracks in the game :)

I've moved towards some melodic themes, but have tried to stick with the ambiance setting of the current soundtrack.

I can provide OGG, WAV, MP3, or FLAC files to the devs.

I'd just like to point out that you say you feel Squad shouldn't use royalty-free music for the game, and your solution is to provide your own royalty-free music :P

Already this is a semi-new direction for the soundtrack. I'm moving away from some of the ambiance ad adding in some musical themes. Let me know what you think, any ideas you have, and any suggestions.

I for one WHOLLY support a direct community involvement in the music selection for KSP. Your included sample could share time with the current one, cycling through a playlist. I think that the music is one of the areas the devs will need to put some serious polish into once the core game is finished. I would like to see unique music for all bodies at some point.

Heres hoping Squad takes community submissions for the final product.

No, my music would ONLY be for use with KSP. Squad would own the copyright. I am writing these songs for the sole purpose of using them in KSP if they decide to do so.

Side note, I updated the Space-1 song. It is 2 minutes long, about the length of the current tracks.

Oh, I know, I was just picking on you :D

But on topic, I'm growing a new appreciation for the existing in-game music. I played KSP with headphones for the first time last night (I've got 220+ hours logged without headphones) and was blown away by how different the music sounded once I could hear the lower register. Really digging it
