[WEB APP] KSP Science-Career-Table-Generator from Save File

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I was hoping to get this out before the Squad Team Patched/Released 0.24. I honestly can't wait to try contracts so I'm early releasing this.

It all started with seeing this checklist by /u/rangita. I tried it and liked it but I was too lazy to keep updating it and I don't have a printer.

Being as how I am a web developer and I had sometime; I spent the last week not playing KSP and building this. If you are a developer and would like to fork the git; you can find it here. The save file parser could be used to parse out Delta-v. Please contact me if you re-use it; I'd love to see other devs use this!

Big thanks to those who shared their save files!

All of them saved me hours by providing their save files so I didn't have to seek out mods or cheat my career to be able to test this application.

Check back in a few days and I will have Asteroid Sample Table and have a better output for Recovery (the layout is weird for it and I have to expand for the 'FlyBy Recovery' mod).

[uPDATE]!

I've added asteroids to the output now. I've also included some display options (checkboxes) to limit the output.

There is still the issue with Recovery 'FlyBy Mod' not being perfect but its still there.

Don't forget this tool does its best to support mods without the need to upload additional files. It 'guesses' what the planet and science schema is (based off your current science results) so the modded output isn't 100% accurate (with mods) as far as where the science is allowed and not allowed but still helpful none the less.

I've also created a backup of the old tool if people still want to use that.

This is really great!

I might submit a patch that adds explicit support for the big science mods (DMagic, Station Science) so that they can have human names. Shouldn't be too difficult with how modular you made the code :)

Thanks for the feedback. Its nice to see someone appreciate what is under the hood.

Yes there are a lot of things that can be done with this framework. What I think would be better is if there was a dat.GUI panel. For the experiment names. I could then save them to a cookie so its individualistic.

I got caught up in the KVV; but I was looking into a way to get Google Cloud/App Engine to save the data.

Thanks for the update, awesome tool!

Tiny corrections:

Atmospheric Pressure scan can only be done on planets/moons with an atmosphere, so it should be greyed out most of the time, like the "Atmospheric Fluid Spectro-Variometer".

Kerbin has only one spash landing = water (not grassland, highlands etc.), same goes for Laythe.

Jool doesn't have a surface.
